When the Hardware Is Ahead of the Test Program

Most aerospace startups discover the same thing once their hardware is ready: building the system is one job. Running a structured ground test campaign on it is a completely different one — and nobody on the team has done it before.

"We built the propulsion system but nobody's led a ground test campaign before."

"Our test readiness review is in three weeks and we don't have procedures or a squawk log."

"We ran the test but now we need data analysis and a formal report for the certification team."

What You Receive

Solrise Engineering runs the full ground test campaign — from the documentation and procedures that get you through TRR, to on-site test operations, to the final report that supports your certification package.

1

Test Readiness Review (TRR) Package

Complete TRR documentation: entrance criteria checklist, review presentation, go/no-go criteria, action item tracking, and reviewer-ready evidence pack. Built to the standard your review board expects.

2

Test Procedure Set

Step-by-step run procedures with pass/fail criteria, safety hold points, abort conditions, and data review checkpoints. Procedures an operator can actually follow at 2 AM on day three of a campaign — not just satisfy a documentation requirement.

3

Test Campaign Execution Support

On-site or remote test operations leadership. Real-time decision-making during runs, anomaly response, and pacing the campaign across the test matrix. For propulsion programs: rotating-equipment health monitoring, balancing checks, and vibration trending across the campaign.

4

Test Data Analysis

Data reduction, visualization, anomaly investigation, and trend analysis across the campaign. Output is decision-ready — not raw exports for someone else to figure out.

5

Formal Test Report

Results, findings, compliance evidence, and recommendations packaged in a structured report your certification team can hand to a DER or regulatory authority. Built for review, not for the archive.

6

Squawk & Discrepancy Management

Logging, tracking, and dispositioning every test anomaly across the campaign. Closure traceability from observation through root cause and corrective action.

Subsystems We Test

Direct hands-on campaign experience across these system families:

Electric Propulsion Systems

Motor, inverter, battery integration, propeller integration, thermal management, and full system endurance testing.

Hydraulic Systems

Brakes, steering, actuation systems. Part 25 commercial aircraft heritage in ground and flight test campaigns.

Landing Gear Systems

Extension and retraction, antiskid, nose wheel steering. Part 25 commercial aircraft heritage.

What This Does Not Cover

Flight test execution. We support flight test programs (planning, procedures, ground-side analysis), but we are not a licensed flight test engineer or pilot. Flight test execution itself is led by qualified flight test personnel.
Certification authority interface. We generate the test data and the supporting report. Your DER, certification team, or regulatory consultant submits to the FAA, EASA, or other authority.
Hardware design changes during the campaign. We log discrepancies and recommend dispositions. Design changes are made by the engineering team that owns the hardware.

Our Process

Four phases from campaign planning through final report.

1

Campaign Planning

Test matrix review, procedure development, TRR package preparation, instrumentation verification, and team alignment.

2

Test Readiness Review

TRR presentation and review board support. Closing out entrance criteria and getting authorization to run the campaign.

3

Campaign Execution

On-site or hybrid test operations leadership. Daily debriefs, real-time data review, squawk management, and matrix pacing.

4

Data Analysis & Reporting

Data reduction, anomaly investigation, formal test report production, and handoff to the certification team.

Why Solrise Engineering for Ground Test Campaigns

What makes the difference between a test campaign that finishes on schedule with defensible data and one that doesn't.

Direct Campaign Experience

Solrise Engineering has led Part 25 ground test campaigns on hydraulic and landing gear systems, and built propulsion test campaigns from blank operations rooms to running hardware on next-generation eVTOL programs. The deliverables on this page come from running those campaigns — not from a consulting playbook.

Test Conductor Mindset

A campaign that finishes on schedule with usable data isn't built in PowerPoint. It's built by someone who has spent days on the test floor making real-time calls about whether to push to the next test point or stand down.

End-to-End Ownership

TRR through final report from one engineer means traceability stays intact across the campaign. Procedures match the test matrix, the data analysis maps back to the test points, and the report references the squawks that came up during the runs.

Engagement Structure

Ground test campaign engagements are scoped individually based on campaign duration, hardware under test, and program stage. Engagements range from focused contributions (TRR package only, procedure development only) to full campaign leadership from planning through final report.

On-site presence for execution, remote work for planning and reporting. Engagement structure — fixed-scope, time-and-materials, or milestone-based — is defined during the discovery phase.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you work on-site during the campaign?

Yes. Test campaigns require an on-site presence for execution. Planning and reporting work is done remotely.

Can you support flight test campaigns too?

We can support planning, procedures, and ground-side data analysis for flight test programs. We are not a licensed flight test engineer or pilot, so we do not lead flight test execution itself.

What if our test infrastructure isn't ready yet?

Many engagements start with our Test Infrastructure & Lab Design service and roll into Ground Test Campaign Leadership once the lab is operational. Both can be scoped as a connected program or as separate engagements.

How do you handle discrepancies during a campaign?

A squawk log is opened on day one. Every anomaly gets logged, categorized (safety, data, equipment, procedure), and dispositioned before campaign close. The closure traceability becomes part of the final report.

Will you write the certification submission?

No — that's DER and certification team territory. We deliver the test data, the analysis, and a formal test report. Your certification team uses our report as input to their regulatory submission.
